Outreach and Education is a major focus of CPH. By engaging with a variety of demographics across Cambria and Somerset counties, CPH is focused on improving overall community health.

Initiatives underway include:

  • Coordinating and participating in health and human services fairs
  • Lunch & Learns
  • Health Ministry
  • Educational Sessions

Resource Fairs

Organizing and participating in Health & Human Services Fair is a fantastic way for CPH staff to provide valuable resource information to attendees.

Every year, CPH organizes several Health & Human Services Fairs, including at the Johnstown Mill Rats game and the Westmont Hilltop Back to School Health Fair. CPH’s Communications Coordinator also helps plan the annual Trick or Treat Yourself to Wellness Health & Human Services Fair that the Cambria County Health & Welfare Council sponsors.

CPH participates in many other events, such as the Families R Us Community Events over the summer and other Health and Human Services Fairs that are planned.

Health Ministry

A Health Minister is an individual who has been designated by the church’s leader as someone who will provide health and human services information to the congregation. The Health Minister will listen to feedback from parishioners to identify resources and health information they’d like more information about.

Every month, CPH provides a variety of resource and health information to the Health Ministers to distribute to their parishioners.

If you’d like more information on Health Ministry, please email Allie Byers at abyers@centerforpophealth.org.

Educational Sessions

Center for Population Health has formed strong partnerships with the Johnstown Housing Authority, senior centers, and libraries to bring subject matter experts directly into community rooms for educational sessions on a variety of topics.

CPH compiled a comprehensive list of speakers, including mindfulness and chair yoga, fall prevention, and more.

Lunch & Learns

CPH is working with Cambria Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Somerset County Chamber of Commerce on monthly online Lunch & Learn Sessions.

Each session has a different speaker that allows businesses and employees to learn more about various health and human services resources, outdoor recreation, mental health, and more.
